W. Roy Smith Scholarship

The W. Roy Smith Scholarship was established in 1994 with a lead gift from Owens & Minor in recognition of his leadership and contributions to pharmacy practice in the state of VA and pharmacy education at VCU.  Roy Smith was a graduate of the class of 1941. The endowment will support rising fourth year pharmacy students to reward those whose work and character is consistent with Mr. Smith’s personal qualities.   The criteria include: 1) academic talent; 2) demonstrated strong leadership ability; and 3) regular contributions to activities benefitting the community.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a fourth year pharmacy Student demonstrating academic talent, strong leadership ability and involvement in community activities.

The student should ask three individuals to email letters of recommendation to this address: pharscholars@vcu.edu

  • P4 pharmacy student
  • Involvement in community activities
  • Provides letters of recommendation from three individuals who are familiar with your personal and academic qualifications. The applicant should ask each individual to forward a letter of recommendation to the address above by the application deadline.
